Evaluation Q3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Our audience feedback was based upon students in my media class, meaning that they potentially could fit our target audience, therefore audience feedback could essentially benefit us for the best outcome. Our first presentation on our music video with initial ideas; music artist, theme, ancillary texts, song choice and target audience, our feedback concluded that our theme of 80s and reminiscing was a good choice with the idea of a montage, as well as the use of colouration and light that we wanted to depict in our theme.
Initially we wanted to re-create drug abuse in our music video to reflect growing up and the addiction to the girl (and lyrics) however our feedback questioned where this would be suitable for the (young) audience. We wanted to show this through a close up of drug (prop) on the tongue of the girl, however we used subtle elements such as using POV shots and then creating a visual echo in post production to connote the effect of drug use, which after  the final showing of the music video, our feedback was positive in particular.

In our final showing, all feedback was positive:

  • Colouration is good
  • Although its a montage, you can still see a narrative
  • Reminds me of a foreign films
  • Filmography/cinematography is lovely
  • Pact/Cuts are good
  • Visually a 'masterpiece'
  • Nice use of intertextuality
  • Very 'Tumblr'
  • Executed our ideas
  • Like the style throughout
  • Text is accurate.

  • This supports that our concept does in fact suit our target audience, as the response we wanted from SPCTRM's audience (the same audience in real life) was what we wanted/expected, which was to make the music video 'inspiring' - aspire to be 'tumblrish' or be in a relationship etc.
