Feedback - A-level media
We done a viewing of our music videos during lesson to get the positives and negatives and general comments of our production. These are some of the comments that were made in response to our music video:
Theme
American Diner
We decided to shoot in an American Diner as this creates a vintage feel to the music video of which we wanted to achieve being the 80s. This consisted of a POV shot and camera movements of close ups of the Diner to highlight the colours and patterns to draw attention to the audience. Props such as a soft drink was used as iconography to show a normal experience of the girl as the music artists remises on this memory.
Overlays
I used an overlay of found footage of clouds from google to overlay onto some footage of which I used to create a dream-like experience, as at this point the atmosphere of the song changes to quite dreamy.
I achieved this by changing the opacity of the clouds to a small number and overlaying it onto the footage of me.
Intertextuality
We used found footage from Tumblr from the 80's to add to our theme, carrying our a colourful aesthetic.
Theme
Multi-media
We incorporated graphics with our music video to create a visually interested music video with variety of visuals. This was made in photoshop and rendered to make a gif. We used the title of the song overlaid onto the Girl, conforming Goodwin's analysis of visuals and lyrics.
We used intertextuality to almost create a narrative of what the artist is portraying in his music video - love and lust. Here we used subtitles to emphasis a narrative as this is used in foreign films.
